When selecting a tool handle for CNC machine tools, there are several key points to consider.

In industrial production, the application of CNC lathes also has requirements for the selection of tool holders. The choice of tool holders directly affects the performance of the machine tool and the overall processing efficiency. If there are too few tool holders, the machine tool may not be able to perform certain operations; if too many tool holders are selected, it will affect the investment. Therefore, the selection of CNC tool holders should be methodical.
1. Choose based on the processing technology of typical parts on the machine tool. The specifications of various tool holders used on CNC lathes for drilling, reaming, boring, milling, and tapping can reach hundreds of types. However, users only purchase a specific machine tool, so they can only choose based on the processing technology of typical parts to be processed on that machine tool. This can meet basic processing needs without causing backlog, making it an effective selection method.
2. Choose based on the number of matching tool holders. The number of matching tool holders is related to the variety, specifications, and quantity of parts to be processed by the machine tool, as well as the complexity and load of the machine tool, generally being 2 to 3 times the required quantity. This is because, while the machine tool is working, a certain number of tool holders are also being pre-adjusted or repaired. Only when the machine tool load is insufficient can it be 2 times or less. The capacity of the tool magazine in the machining center should be 2 to 3 times to meet general automatic processing requirements.
3. Choose based on whether the shape of the tool holder's shank is correct. According to the need for tool change, the spindle holes of boring and milling CNC lathes and their machining centers are mostly selected to be non-self-locking with a 7:24 taper, but the shank of the tool holder that matches the machine tool is not completely uniform. Some shanks have a cylindrical head at the small end of the 7:24 taper, while others do not, which is clearly not in line with international standards. For automatic tool change machine tools, the tool holder's shank must match the specifications of the machine tool's spindle hole, and it should be determined which standard the selected machine tool should use. The selected tool holder must be consistent with the specifications of the machine tool's spindle hole (whether it is type 30, 40, or 45). Additionally, the gripping part of the tool holder must meet the shape and position requirements of the mechanical arm, and the shape and size of the pull pin must match the tightening mechanism of the spindle.
4. Try to choose tool holders and tools with high processing efficiency. To maximize the processing capability of CNC lathes, it is advisable to choose tool holders and tools with high processing efficiency. For example, when rough boring holes, use a double-edged boring tool holder instead of a single-edged boring tool holder, which can improve processing efficiency while reducing vibration. When processing, choosing a strong spring collet can not only hold straight shank tools but also hold hole tools through an extension rod.
